Fierce Bad Rabbit's new release "The Maestro and the Elephant"

Happy New Year! Live music in Denver appears to be getting back into full swing after the holidays. If you’re looking for some great shows to attend this weekend in the Mile-High, here are a few suggestions to help point you in the right direction. You’re welcome.

FRIDAY, JAN. 11

Local indie band The Centennial are having an album release show at Larimer Lounge (2721 Larimer St. in Denver) to celebrate their debut full-length release Nervous System. Opening acts include Princess Music and A Boy and His Kite. Tickets are $10 each, available through Larimer Lounge. Doors at 8:00 PM; show starts at 9:00. Ages 21+.

Ft. Collins-based indie rock act Fierce Bad Rabbit are also releasing a CD, The Maestro and the Elephant, and are having a release party at The Oriental Theater, 4335 W. 44th St. in Denver. Opening acts include The Yawpers and Tremontaine. Tickets are $12 each, available from The Oriental Theater. Service charge may apply. Doors at 7:30 PM; show starts at 8:30. Ages 16+.

SATURDAY, JAN. 12

If you’re a fan of Denver indie-rock band Carbon Choir, Saturday is your last chance to see them–at least for awhile. The band is calling it a day with a special farewell show at The Walnut Room, 3131 Walnut St. in Denver. Opening the show is Attic Attack. Tickets are $10 each, available from The Walnut Room; service charges may apply. Doors at 8:00 PM. Ages 21+.

Pop/rock act Augustana will play a special acoustic show at The Larimer Lounge, 2721 Larimer St. in Denver. Opening act is Lauren Shera. Tickets are $22.50 advance, $25 day of show, available from Larimer Lounge. Doors at 8:00 PM; show starts at 9:00 PM. Ages 21+.
